Every few years I am like “let’s rent a cabin in the woods and connect with Mother Nature”, forgetting in the process that I am a City Person at heart.

Me: oh look, I have a tiny spider on my hand. It looks all weird and awwwww. Oh wait, it’s only got six legs, maybe it got into a fight, poor ickle thing. Or maybe it isn’t a spider…

Husband, flatly: it’s a tick.

Me: AAAAAAH FUCK *throws tick through window of car*

Ticks have eight legs and are in the same class as spiders but they're in a different superorder. For comparison, egg laying monotremes (like the platypus) and hairy critters that don't lay eggs (kangaroos, people) are all in class Mammalia but they're in two different subclasses.

Ergo, ticks are like really creepy spiders. Creepy and crawly.
