Mary Sue goes Hollywood.
Aug. 7th, 2004 10:00 amWhen exhausted, Husband likes to watch braindead television. Occasionally, I keep him company and watch, or read, or both at the same time, braindeadness permitting.
My book dropped from my hands yesterday evening as we watched Lara Croft strutt downthe runway the Siberian plains, in very tight pants (la rainette: "any room for long johns in there?" Husband: "Not unless you're a stick insect, no"), a billowing, cream-coloured, beautiful and highly impractical coat, unbuttoned, and a skimpy, sleeveless tank top on the verge of a wardrobe malfunction.
I have nothing about Power Women in the movies, quite the contrary, and Angelina Jolie is very jolie indeed, in a kick-ass way. But give the poor soul a sweater, please!
(Braindeadness score: high, BTW. But oh my, interesting book)

Lara... mmmm *drools*
Date: 2004-08-07 03:39 pm (UTC)What's more... the level necessitates a few short swims in near frozen waters to retrieve keys and so on... though admittedly the designers did build in a time limit that Lara can stay in the water when she is on this level before she contorts horribly for a few seconds and then sinks to bottom with frozen boobilies (and other parts).
I can see the dilemma though. Some of the appeal of the digital Lara is her shapeliness (which has been exasperbated in every instalment)... and bundling her up in winter wear would take away the attraction of her curvaceousness from her pubescent fans (and me).
I guess the same is true of the movie Lara (which I don't like by the way... even though Angelina is well cast... the plots always suck).
