:D T'was fun. The kids may show up on TV at some point or other, cos we met a guy with a GREAT BIG CAMERA of doom, and he filmed the girls. But then, they were truly extra-cute, Froglet as the little mermaid (she finally decided the vampire teeth didn't go too well with her pretty dress), and Tadpole as the Terribly Serious Tiniest Leopard Ever.

And Tadpole? Tiny, ultra-shy Tadpole? Was first to knock on every door.

Froglet: Trick or treat!
Tadpole: tick or teat!
Friendly neighbour: there you go!
Froglet: thank you, happy halloween, good bye!
Tadpole: tankyalooweenbye! *runs off to next house*
rainette: Thank you! Happy halloween! TADPOLE WAIT UP!

Froglet: which house next?
rainette: I don't know, you choose.
Froglet: eenie-meenie-meinie-moe...
Tadpole *zooms past, determinedly running up to the first available well lit house*
Froglet: Hey, wait, I haven't decided yet!
rainette: Well, she's gonna get all the candy if you don't go...
Froglet: Oh. Right. *runs after Tadpole*

One family went overboard and made their house so scary no kid dared approach it. :D

I saw kids in all assorted sizes, from the tiny mite sitting on his dad's shoulders, proudly paraded about by both parents (who had obviously been busy planning that very moment from the time he was an embryo lazily swimming around in his mother's womb), to the bulky, extra-tall teenager whom I took for an accompanying parent until he came over to me and piped up in a tiny, girly voice: "Trick or treat, please ma'am!"

We took turn trick or treating with the little ones, and handing out candy, cos both are fun, and we had much traffic: our pumpkins were spectacular, thanks to Husband's talents, and we had good treats. What more do you want?

And on an unrelated note, today's craft at Playschool reminded me of one of Tadpole's first crafts. They were to create a doghouse, by glueing a dark, dog-shaped piece of paper, and a red, doghouse-shaped piece of paper, and a little bone-shaped dog-biscuit, onto a big blue piece of paper.

Well. By the time the teachers caught up with Tadpole, she'd already eaten her dog-biscuit and was happily munching on her neighbour's. :D Good times, good times.

[livejournal.com profile] hobbitblue suggested I check you out (no wait, I mean check out your journal) so here I am. :-D

My goddaughters are known collectively as "da Tadpoles" so I got a real kick out of reading your 'looween story.

So anyways... hullo!

:D Oh yes. Especially when it comes to chocolate. Tadpole is a chocolate fiend.

Your kids remind me so much of my own...I was packing my lunch yesterday when Delenn came running up demanding, "Dape, Mommy, dape!" Naturally Danae was right behind her: "If she gets a grape, Mom, I get one too!"

So I gave them each a grape. Delenn industriously chewed hers up quickly, but Danae tried to hold it in her mouth and talk at the same time. It fell out, rolled away, and landed at Delenn's feet...and of course she immediately picked it up and ate it.

I think the (?) German translation of this icon is appropriate here. :)
