Ah, here.

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] gypsyjr

Phew, that was close, but blame the power cut! Two hours without light, and two frightened, bawling kids who are afraid of the dark even when mommy is holding their hands and singing lullabies.

At some point I gave up, packed them into the car and took them out of the Zone of Darkness and into a well-lit McDonalds.

I don't know how it happened, but as I was laughing Froglet suddenly exclaimed: "not fun! I don't like it when you laugh at me!" But I wasn't, so I tried to make a very vague point through a haze of general fatigue, and this is how it came out:

rainette: I'm not laughing at you. I'm being silly. I'm a grownup, so I'm allowed to be silly whenever I want; it's the good thing about being a grownup.
Froglet *unconvinced frown*: are you sure?
rainette *replays entire previous sentence*: no.
Froglet: You're so silly!
rainette *giggles*

This *points to the above* is what remains of my brain after the first week-end of packing.

The good news is, we entirely emptied the closet in the girls' room (all their favourite toys are still there, but most of the junk is gone). The bad news is, it took us one full day. The funny news is, Froglet and Tadpole have built a little nest in the empty closet, and Froglet insists on sleeping in it, now. :D It reminds me of our trip to Quebec, over the canadian Thanksgiving week-end: there was a breakfast nook in the room, with two benches on each side of a little table, and Froglet and Tadpole had built themselves a tent, and Froglet had spent the night Down There. One seriously freaked out Room Service Person: priceless. [livejournal.com profile] sir_gareth, this is a simple truth you are familiar with, I believe ;) .

And now, I sleep. *collapses*
