Somebody please slow down the clocks
Feb. 23rd, 2005 12:43 pmSorry, but as much as I'd like to, I'm not really following LJ these days. I am trying to be a full-time mom while working full-time as a translator from home, and I end up experiencing the terrible frustration of not being able to do anything really right. *sighs and bites nails*
Good thing I didn't bring Froglet to school last Friday: out of the 26 kids in her class, 6 threw up, and so did the phys. Ed. teacher. So now I am hoping that no-one in our family is sick this week. Next week, I don't care, but not this week, because it's Tadpole's birthday tomorrow, and she has her party on Saturday. *crosses fingers*
In the meanwhile, I kept both girls home on Monday again, cos hey, so much snow I couldn't get the car out, and we found a little time to make a creative contemporary sculpture in the backyard. It started out as a mountain, as I kept heaping snow with my shovel, and the girls made a good-sized model of mount Kilimandjaro. Then it became a snow-lady, when Froglet carefully installed a big snowball on the summit of mini-Kilimandjaro. She added stones for eyes, "from my Collection of Shiny Rocks"*, she said, and branches for arms (I refrained from pointing out that with the twigs on the branches, the snow-lady had either too many hands or not enough fingers).
And then we added tiny twigs for hair (exactly 16, cos we counted), and now the sculpture looks like an albino hedgehog on a molehill. Contemporary art, I tell you.
*Froglet once caught me red-handed as i was emptying her pockets and getting rid of all the tiny stones she kept in there.
Froglet: MOM! What are you doing?
rainette: I am getting rid of these stones. They mess up the washing-machine. Why?
Froglet *wails* They're not STONES! That's my Collection of Shiny Rocks!
rainette: woops. Sorry, sweetie.
So now I know better than to throw rocks, pinecones, broken plastic toys, multi-coloured pieces of paper, etc. away.
In other news, Tadpole is fed up with brushing her teeth.
rainette: Tadpole. It's time to go brush your teeth.
Tadpole: don't want to.
rainette: TADPOLE.
Tadpole: OK, OK, OK. But only ONE tooth. Not two. Only one.
rainette *giggles*
Tadpole *is off to brush her tooth*
OMG, so many things to do, so little time! *flees*

Date: 2005-02-24 06:30 am (UTC)I know how you feel about not having enough time. And as much as we like to see you around LJ, your kids come first. (And your real life. We do still have real lives, don't we?) So don't feel bad if you don't get to spend much time online.
On the other hand, you have to have some "me time", or you'll burn out. So...we'll see you around, then? :D :D
