We took the kiddies to the Ex, in Toronto. The Ex is a very special place.

And there she arrives with chocolate in her hands, having once more unearthed a carefully hidden reserve. [livejournal.com profile] hobbitblue, I may have to hide the chocolate in the oven, it is the one place they Do Not Touch.

Some friend's entries do not show up on my friends page, is this just me or do you have the same problem? (Or could I have done something wrong?)

Did you know that dandelion comes from the French dent-de-lion, liontooth? The Germans call it Loewenzahn, which also means liontooth, and the French speaking Swiss still use the term Dent-de-lion.

The French call it pissenlit (which is much less poetic and literally means "pees in bed"), because it has diuretic properties, and also because we are fond of potty-style humour (in French: humour scatologique, if you want to say it elegantly, or less elegant but more to the point: humour pipi-caca)

Tadpole calls it lallydion. I call it lallydion too, these days, because I think it's pretty.

I shall be very sad the day she manages to say dandelion properly.

Playschool

Oi, playschool parents! I am volunteer registrar, as in, not paid for the hours I spend doing this, and I'd like my job to be finished at some point or other so that I can start enjoying the schoolyear too, so would you please make up your mind and choose which class you want your kid in and stick to it? Thank you.

In other news, it was Tadpole's first day, and she enjoyed every minute, but only after the first fifteen, which were spent clinging to my thigh, with her face hidden against my bum. When she finally emerged, she did 2 paintings, 2 crafts, and thoroughly enjoyed the familiar routine, to the point where she didn;t want to leave. I am very pleased.

Froglet made a little candy bracelet at school today, and apparently the only colors left were white and blue, and they had only 2 blue candies left anyway. She managed to secure one, for her little sister, who likes blue. And she saved it, for Tadpole.

Whenever they do something like that, I just melt. I love these little girls. I love it when they love each other. *is happy mom*
