Oooh, I forgot to mention: we went to see the Incredibles last week-end! It was our first family outing to a movie. *throws confetti* We enjoyed the movie more than the kids did *sheepish grin*

Husband and I sat each sat at one end, Froglet and Tadpole were in the middle. Froglet didn't see much of the movie, as she hid her face against Husband (with her hands on her eyes for good measure) each time something scary happened. And each time, she whispered "tell me when it's over, Daddy!", and then of course, Husband, engrossed as he was in the story, would completely forget to tell her that she could watch again. Tadpole, who sat beside me, munched quietly on popcorn, watched with big, round, fascinated eyes, giggled excitedly each time something exploded/got eaten/got broken, and stayed perfectly calm throughout the movie, panicking only once: when the popcorn bag accidentally fell on the floor.

The baby in the family eerily reminded me of Tadpole. She, too, let everything we stuffed into her mouth ooze down on her chin. I, too, scooped it absent-mindedly up and back into her mouth. I haven't discovered her super-powers yet, but I am sure she will surprise us one day.

And Froglet was invited to a movie night at a friend's: Philippe's parents had rented Shrek 2, and invited 3 friends of Philippe to share the fun. But then, little Caroline decided to stay home, so it was just Froglet and 2 guys, and Froglet, I am finding out, Froglet who plays soccer at recess and runs faster than most of her friends, even with her enormous, brand new and thus slightly too big Popular Pink boots, Froglet is very much one of the guys.

Philippe's mom had counted on an evening of quiet fun, in front of the TV, with Caroline and Froglet providing an element of dignified feminity to the boy's roughhousing. Popcorn, a good movie, and friends to share with.

The popcorn, alas, lasted less than 10 minutes.

Once the popcorn was all gone, they stopped paying attention to the movie and the fun started.

I don't think we'll ever be invited by these people again. It's OK, they don't have a couch we could sit on any longer, anyway.
