Ooof, the Week from Hell officially ended with a bang when a tree right next to us EXPLODED as it was struck by lightning while we were waiting for Tadpole to be done with her camp, thus throwing Froglet's Best Friend into a panic attack. *sighs*
They brought the little ones out despite the torrential rain; being a standard mummy(tm), I had thought of everything for my little ones who both had lovely raincoats but also sunhats and sunscreen, should the sun happen to come out at any time, but I had failed to bring any sort of protection against rain (umbrella, raincoat, or any sort of waterproof shoes, though sandals can be called waterproof as in "water doesn't accumulate inside", I guess) for myself. I did run, but by the time I was back at the car, I was soaked. Drenched. DRIPPING WET. Ready to win the Most WET prize at any wet T-shirt contest.
*rolls eyes* The kids thought it was hilarious, of course.
I drove the children back home at 30 miles per hour on the highway (past the many cars that were just parked on the side with theior warning lights on, waiting for the end of theApocalypse, storm), and they squealed in delight each time we hit a pond-sized puddle. "Again, again" Tadpole exclaimed. Uh, I'd rather not, if it's OK with you.
By the time I dropped Best Friend, it started to rain again, just a little.
Best Friend's Mum: Oh, it's raining again! Do you want an umbrella?
rainette *looks at self* mmmm pfffffff too late.
Dude. I changed ALL MY CLOTHES, underwear included, I was that wet.
In other news, if anyone who lives in Toronto or plans to go thre before labour day reads this: GO TO THE DRUM CAFE SHOW AT THE ZOO!!!! And learn to play the Djembe drum and have the time of your life. No, really. I had a blast (even though they had to stop the show when the rain started) and I'm taking the girls next week. And maybe the week after. I think it's exactly the kind of thing Froglet will LOVE -- though I may want to hit the drum less hard, I think I managed to hurt my thumb, ow.
