la_rainette: (evolution of Frog)
I was very, very grumpy earlier today (DO NOT ASK WHY. I may, or may not, post about this later), so I treated myself to a movie, and even went as far as to buy a membership at that awesome tiny cinema downtown. *is pleased*

It doesn't have the biggest screen. It doesn't have the most comfortable seats, either. And if you listen real well (and sometimes, when there is a silent passage in the movie, you don't even have to listen well), you can hear the rumble of the subway under your feet. But I love it, cos it plays movies that I sometimes cannot find anywhere else, and hell, even the TRAILERS they show are interesting.

So today, I went to see Brokeback Moutain, which I have been wanting to see for awhile, and ahahahahaha Heath Ledger is SO GOOD OMG.

Still.

I felt the same way I feel when I go see a Quebecois movie: I know that I bloody should understand what they're saying, and I can vaguely make out that yes, they may indeed be speaking some sort of language I actually know -- but I still have no idea what they're saying.

Cos, see, smoking is not just bad for your health, it doesn't help communication either. JAKE GYLLENHAAL! I can't get a word you're saying if you don't take that cigarette out of your mouth!

Heath Ledger? Now, you can smoke as much as you want. It doesn't make any difference whether or not you keep the cigarette in your mouth, I still do not understand what you're saying. And that's OK, cos you're really pretty. And it's not like the movie is full of Very Meaningful Dialogs, anyways.

So now that I have been hit heavily on the head with a silent love-in-the-manly-mountains movie, I really really long for a very verbose British film, with lots and lots of dialogs I can perfectly understand without having to try and read anyone's lips. Not that it makes that much of a difference, again, cos Heath Ledger does not move his lips anyways. *hits head against wall*

Erm.

I did like the movie, though. *sheepish grin*
