The husband brought indian takeout yesterday evening. Chicken tandoori for the tadpoles, and chicken tikka masala, hot, for us.

My first thought when the spices kicked in was "good god, I just swallowed an Autralian jellyfish".

By the time I was done explaining to the tadpoles why mommy was hopping up and down with tears in her eyes (no, sweetpea, I didn't bang my toe), half my tastebuds were already marching in protest. The other half threw in the towel a few bites later and haven't been heard from since.

My sinuses, however, are all cleared up now. Extra hot chicken tikka masala seems to be the Other Ultimate Cure for a stuffy nose, the Ultimate Cure being peppered vodka. From there on, it all depends on what you yould most like to keep intact: your tastebuds, or your brain cells.

Husband has taken off to drive Froglet to the hospital - nothing dramatic, just spectacularly swollen eyes. We'd take her to the family doctor's, but of course on a Sunday the hospital is the only way to get treatment. And since she's not an emergency as such, they'll probably spend the better part of the day in the waiting room. I guess she shouldn't have put kiddie lipgloss onto her eyelids :( I have a very boring day ahead of me, lots of volunteer work for the tadpole Playschool (remind why I volunteered again? No, I don't remember either. I must have had too much peppered vodka that day), with a permanent squint to be expected by the end of the day (from working and making sure baby tadpole doesn't entirely wreck the place at the same time).

I am also, well, overdosing on HP I think. I had originally joined LJ pushed by a tidal wave of HP enthusiam, but I seem to be running out of steam quickly (or maybe it's just froglet being in the hospital). I'd rather keep HP to the authors I know and already like these days - I don't go hunting for new fics; I keep the HECK away from mustache discussion; I get extremely bored by canon discussions (I'm not sure I agree with the "sloppy JKR" theory, but I do think she devoted more attention to the story and characters than to the magical world itself, and may sometimes run into difficulties borne from her own muggleness. Happens to fanfiction authors all the time too - ever wondered why so many stories take place in a semi-muggle environment?); I will be blissfully away on a mini-break when PoA comes out.

I am, however, having a lot of fun with this journal. It's turning out to be an excellent therapy against stress, as my usual therapy (Tickle a Tadpole) is currently unavailable. Huh. Go figure.

Am going to call husband on the mobile phone that doesn't work at the best of times and is currently turned off anyway to see how froglet is doing.
