eyes wide shut

So the photographer came to tadpole's school, and took a few pictures of terminally shy tadpole ("Don't call her name! Just ignore her!" I said. "Can't" he replied, deeply offended. "I'm trying to take her picture. I need to see her face"  Tadpole peaked out. "That's it! Tadpole! Hello!" he shouted. Tadpole went into hiding again - insert a few chosen, not-kid-safe swearwords, spoken through gritted teeth)

He finally took a few pictures of tadpole peaking out from her vantage position against my shoulder (was wearing ugly T-shirt, damn). I think he got her left eye, at any rate. If I'm very lucky, the eye will even be open.
