I went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 last night.

Wow.

We have this satyrical puppet show in France, heavily inspired by England's "Spitting Image", that shows "W" as an utter moron. I am starting to think they might have underestimated him. He might actually be even more stupid than that. I mean, there were points during the movie where I just wanted to take him by the hand, give him a lollipop, and send him back to Kindergarten. Oh, the maniac, happy glint in his eyes whenever he finishes a sentence without stuttering. With so much of the happy circus monkey who has just finished his best juggling act in it.

But that is beside the point. The point, for me, as I watched this movie, was that funnily enough, my Bush-bashing, anti-American (sorry, guys, am French, remember?) self was suddenly taken by surprise and reminded why it could possibly love the US, and the people who live there.

Of course, I will freely admit that I am heavily biased, and was all set to like that movie anyway. But it was, in many ways, subtler and better than I had imagined. It broke my heart, more than a little. It made me understand people I tend to dismiss as out of their minds without even talking to them. Michael Moore's love for his country shines through. Good movie.

Off to Quebec city for five days, that is, IF we get the car back in time. The car is currently at the car hospital, being treated for what we suspect to be the consequences of severe dehydration: a light went on on the dashboard when we almost ran out of gas, and it never went off again. Since it says "check engine", we might be better off checking said engine before it lets us down in the middle of nowhere.

They must have "misunderestimated" him!
*LOL*
