Froglet *thrusts disgusting but colourful mess under la rainette's nose*: Look, mommy!

la rainette *tries hard not to say ewwwwww*: Er, what is it?

Froglet's friend: It's a bug, but we didn't know if he was friendly, so we squished him, and then it turned out he was friendly after all, but he was already dead.

Froglet and friend *run off to play with unlucky friendly-but-dead bug*

Oh, well. That's one of the less savoury facts of life, I guess: unfriendly animals tends to be friendlier when dead.

PS: I am sure you guys know of many examples where this is not true, and I hereby ask you to please keep them to yourself until after dinner. Thank you.

Oh, good! The squished bug was gross enough... (Even unsquished, it would have had a hard time: the girls made a teeny bug pool and tried to, uh, teach it to swim or give it something to drink, I am still not sure. They had a tremendous time, anyways)

Geez, if that's not a poignant commentary on human nature, then I've never heard one...
