Big Day tomorrow
Sep. 6th, 2004 08:05 pmI know now what portmanteau means in English, thank you
copperbadge - and the explanatory thread that followed the entry.
And then I spent 3 hours obsessively wondering what the plural of porte-manteau was. (Thank you, dear Grévisse. More on the Grévisse and the evil dictée de Pivot to follow.)
In other, more important news: Froglet is going back to school tomorrow.
And she doesn't want to go.
la rainette: why not?
Froglet: Becasue I'll have another teacher! I loved my teacher so much!
la rainette: well, you'll make new firends, too.
Froglet: But I don't want anymore friends! I have enough! I can't invite that many people to my birthday party!
No, and we'll talk about that later. Like, when your birthday is near. In 2005.
Anyways, my lovely friends out there: my Froglet would need a little word of encouragement tonight, so if you have 5 mintues, please send her a word... I'll print them out for her, she'll be delighted, and honoured, and she needs all the support she can get right now...
In more news: I have to go now, because I am the only person here able to deal with EBIL ONIONS (I always knew contact lenses had their good points). I'll answer all the previous comments tomorrow, hopefully (I have many things to tell you guys, but so little time, WAH!).

Date: 2004-09-07 12:19 am (UTC)That's it for French in this entry from me, I'm afraid, because if I thought hard enough to produce the entry in French (and with the French diacritics, aiee) I'd give myself even more of a headache than I already have.
But you, my lass, will have so much fun in your new year of school -- having a new teacher doesn't mean for even a second that you can't still love the old one! The more teachers in your school you like, the better off you are, if you ask me. And there is no such thing as too many friends, hon. It's way better than having too many enemies. :-D (Don't tell your mom, but maybe if you have too many friends for one birthday party, a good solution might be to have more than one party. You know?)
I hope you have a good time on your first day back. Be sure to tell us all about it!
love,
Agent Reynard

Date: 2004-09-07 01:15 am (UTC)There's a song I learned when I was your age:
Make new friends, but keep the old,
One is silver and the other gold!
Have a lovely new year of school -- it will be exciting!

Date: 2004-09-07 01:25 am (UTC)Yeah, I know how you feel. I've had some great teachers during my time in school (including the teachers I have now, in college). (I've had some not so great ones, too, but I suppose that's just the world's way of preventing my life from being too perfect. *grins jokingly*) Moving on can be tough, but, on the bright side, it means that you get to meet new people... and other great teachers. After all, you can't have just one great teacher... you have to catch 'em all, like some kind of crazy educational Pokemon...
Anyway, I wish you good luck, and assure you that everything will work out fine... I promise. And you should trust me, of course... after all, you have never met me and have absolutely no clue who I am!
So, good luck, Froglet! And have a good time!
Sincerely,
L33tminion Sam, the guy who's been there and done that

Date: 2004-09-07 02:55 am (UTC)Here is my little padawan, Maddie, who just went to school for the first time a week ago. She's standing with her Auntie, who is very proud that she is going to school.
She's giving you a sign and a wink for good luck. I wish you could meet her, because she is a funny girl, but I know there are lots of fun girls in your school, too. And maybe some nice girl needs a friend just like you! Here is Maddie and her brother on the playground: they had so much fun that they hardly wanted to go home! Paris is pretending to be in a jungle, so he's looking "spooked". Isn't he silly?
Good luck, and have a great day! Love,
-Skye

Date: 2004-09-07 03:37 am (UTC)Have a great time at school tomorrow! I bet that you will like your new teacher. I got 5 new teachers when I went back to school last week, and they are pretty cool. Are you going to learn lots of new cool things this year? I hope so. Good luck and have fun! Bises, Ally
