LJ? Stop That.
Sep. 27th, 2004 12:34 pmWhat? What? I am away for 3 days, and the layout changes? I am NOT pleased, LJ. Not pleased at all. Also,
terrylj , the lovely don't panic icon was gone before I had the time to copy it! Wah!
So. We've had a good week-end. A very busy week end, with scenic routes, wine tasting, prettily lit cities seen from far up, the Niagara Falls seen from deep down (Froglet: "NO! I'm not taking the boat that goes in the shower again!"), and it's been altogether grand.
Husband went to the school presentation thing (I stayed with our guests, who are mainly my friends - not that they don't like Husband, but they've known me for longer that they've known him - quite considerably so since they were the first people to babysit me ever and still fondly remind me of how they gave me a bath when I was 3 weeks old), and the good news is the teacher is to have a full-time assistant in Froglet's class.
In other good news, Froglet is unimpressed with Bobo-the-Terror anyway.
Froglet: Bobo tried to beat me today.
la rainette: WHY? WHAT HAPPENED?
Froglet: We played soccer, I was in Olivier's team, and Bobo was in the other team...
la rainette: yes?
Froglet: and Bobo's team was much bigger than ours...
la rainette: YES???
Froglet: and we won, thirteen nil. And then Bobo wanted to hit me, but I ran ROCKET FAST and he couldn't catch up...
la rainette: Oh.
Froglet *contemptuous* He can't run ROCKET FAST, he's too little. He's not 5 yet, and I am *draws herself up importantly* 5 and a half.
Unimpressed, I tell you. And it's not like she won't meet other sore losers in her life.
In other, less good news, am so tired I can't see straight. *yawns*

And how's work?...

Work is a joke...I'm getting a paycheck for drinking way too much coffee, checking LJ obsessively and organizing three years worth of digital photos. Not that it didn't need doing, but really.

Date: 2004-09-28 02:44 am (UTC)Eeek.
I like the icon muchly, though, if simply because, hey, great big ugly toady guy saying EW! in elegant German! Neat! Do you think Sam would object if I borrowed it? (And would you?)
I might want to give it a try, thanks for the recommendation. Am right now halfways through a quite fabulous Victorian uh, lesbian story with a dickensian take and fabulous plot twists: Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. Hugely enjoyable, as she is a wonderful story-teller with interesting characters.

Date: 2004-09-28 02:29 pm (UTC)Is he really saying "Ew!" in German? I had no idea. That's cool. That's the way that Rex Stout spells it when Wolfe says it, although when Archie (the extremely American narrator) says it, it's spelled "phooey", a slang term roughly meaning, "I am not pleased about this, but it's not worth a real curse word."
I doubt Sam would mind at all; it was up in one of his weekly icon offerings a while back, and even though I always ask for confirmation before taking, I understand that unless marked otherwise, those are all up for grabs. And I certainly don't mind.

Date: 2004-09-28 05:29 pm (UTC)One seventh of a ton is A LOT! It's funny, I think I know the TV show, but I've never read anything - wasn't there a TV show with Nero Wolfe? (Or am I utterly mistaken) Do you remember who played Nero Wolfe?
He does say Ew in German. :D Which is why I love that icon so much - I mean, I have a "Ew" family: Ew is tadpole's favourite word in the entiore world, and Froglet has her own personal earthworm (called mon chéri, my darling) and saves cockroaches (which is a big EW thing for me...) . I'll have a look in his icon gallery, see if I can scare it up, or else I'll just drop him a comment somewhere.
