..By the lovely [livejournal.com profile] terrylj, who successfully fought her commitment phobia to make lovely Tadpole icons, a small sample of conversation with Tadpole this morning.

She came out of her Eurythmics class very happy and bouncy.

la rainette: Did you have a good time?
Tadpole: Cookie!
la rainette: Did you enjoy yourself?
Tadpole: Cookie!
la rainette: Can you say bye-bye to Wendy?
Tadpole *waves* cookie?
la rainette: Good girl! OK, let's got get you a cookie.
Tadpole: COOKIE! *runs off*
la rainette: TADPOLE! WAIT!

It's not like I can say no, anyways: we have to go past the coffee shop, and she knows the way.

So. My throat is burning, I am exhausted (very busy week-end, plus we had friends over yesterday evening) and I feel very sad all of a sudden, for no tangible reason but, you know, sheer exhaustion, and, well, the usual. So I'm not being around much, because I don't like to mope in public.

Meh.

PS: this is of course an old picture. Tadpole has Hair now. But both my girls went through a very long Kojak phase (they were very, very bald, with very dark, piercing eyes), when everyone including the family would take them for little boys, even when they wore Pink Dresses (and, I mean, Pink Dresses should be a dead giveaway). Froglet and Tadpole both got their first haircuts when they were around two and a half, and there wasn't much to cut...

I'm sorry you are feeling sad. Let me know if there's any way I can help cheer you up...

Mine both went through the bald phase (months and months of it). And once I took Danae to the store after church when she was about four months old. She was in a Pink Dress with white lace and layers of ruffles. She looked like a birthday cake. Also white stockings, white shoes with bows, and a white headband. So this man (of course it was a man, women have better sense) comes up and says, "Look how cute! Is it a little girl?"

I guess the absence of earrings confused him...

*dies laughing* oh yes, yes, yes... I mean, boy is default: if not sure, assume it's a boy. Why, I wonder? Do men automatically assume little girls will be overjoyed to be called boys, while little boys would be mortally offended, or turn out to be transvestites, if they were called girls as infants? I just don't know.

And I'm doing a little better. Just turning on the heater helped *sheepish smile* I think the house was extremely cold and I just didn't notice.

Yes. Just like you can dress a little girl in blue clothes, even blue jeans and pants and things, decorate her room in blue, etc. etc., but if you put pink on a boy or pink things in his room, you are guilty of child abuse. Even as a tiny infant, if your washing machine broke and he had no clean nightclothes and you let him wear a pink nightgown that your daughter grew out of, you would be legally required to give him up for adoption.

Yellow is also questionable. And any pastel color. Boys need primary colors to develop their testosterone level. *insert Tim-The-Tool-Man-Taylor grunt here* *also insert eye-rolling of massive proportions here*

*rolls eyes too*

It's incredible, I agree. (and international: it's the same, more or less, in latin Europe - I don't know about Scandinavia, they might be a little more advanced over there.) Meh. Guys.

Also, clothes? I'm so happy I have girls! Over here in Canada, you can dress your boy like a) a woodcutter or b) a sportsman. My best friend's just had a little boy, and I'm going to send a Toronto Maple Leafs sweatshirt I think (size 6 months, cos big baby), because it's my only option.

When is Delenn's birthday? (Just wondering if we might be sharing the date: mine's Oct. 17th)

Did you see? *points to comment from Patty* Everyone likes your cool icon *g*

Delenn's is 10/22; one of my very good RL friends' (?punctuation?) is 10/16, her husband's is 10/29, and his daughter's is 10/17! In fact they are throwing her party side-by-side with ours, in the next room over, as it seemed the best way to cope with the kids who will be invited to both their parties.

Yay for October birthdays! (As Danae's is 9/30, it seems reasonable to assume that the New Year's Celebration got out of hand...but what occurred in mid-to-late January to cause all of this?)

I love the icon. I just sat here and laughed for a good two minutes.
I'm sorry you're feeling blue. Would a cookie help?
*hands you a cookie*
*loffs*

*g* Thank you for the cookie, sweetheart *loves*

I'm all better, especially now I know that there is nothing a little Advil won't cure: am actually less blue than sick.

So I didn't go to the fitness thing this morning: my muscles hurt enough already, thank you very much. But Tadpole went to her art-class and had a blast :D and I got a 45-minute break with a book, which was very enjoyable, and the sun is shining again today, so am better.
