I still remember the day the canton of Appenzell in Switzerland gave women the right to vote and present themselves to be elected in local elections. No, I am not joking. It's that recent.

I still remember how it felt to be too young to vote. The joy of the victory, for we had won, but also the frustration that that victory wasn't mine.

I remember going to great length to be able to vote. The story would be too long to tell, but I did manage to vote when it should not have been possible. I am still proud of the stunt I pulled off that day, especially since it was for the Maastricht Referendum in Europe, and the result was so damn close.

I remember voting for someone I truly didn't like, because the alternative would have been so much worse.

You know, I don't live in your country, nor do I ever intend to, and I guess I should keep my big mouth shut today. But if I were you, I'd be lining up, and I wouldn't care how long the line up is.

Vote, Americans.

And if push comes to shove, there is room on my couch in Canada for those of you who might need it.

I get to work too early to vote beforehand (5:30, the polls open at 6), therefore we are going when we get off. And if Bush wins, we will probably be attempting to transfer to the Canadian location of our company. Because he will no longer need to keep the approval of the masses to stay in office, and that scares me.

*sighs* Yes. Me too.

Where's the Canadian location? Anywhere near Toronto?

I can't seem to find the Canadian location for the company I actually work for, however the sister company has locations in Quebec and Ontario.

Well. If you end up moving to Toronto you're welcome to crash on the couch until you find yourselves a place to stay. *takes deep breath* Shit, I truly didn't see this coming.

I voted this morning--6:30 am, in line at the polls! (I was #47 in my precinct--you got to watch the numbers click up as you fed your little sheet into the machine.)

I've been tense and snappish and hopeful and excited by turns all day today--I feel like I'm about to hurl from the nervousness.

Is that an actual offer, or a metaphorical one? ;-)

*nods* and I am baking with shaky hands tonight, watching TV, waiting, hoping.

Oh, it's an actual offer. Although I'd rather meet my LJ friends in less dramatic circumstances (as in, to celebrate a victory rather than running away from defeat :) ) *is hopeful*

My roommate won't let me turn on the news yet. If she holds out for more than an hour, I swear to god I'm going to smack her. None of the news websites are loading properly (somewhat understandably) and I'm going NUTS.

Hmmmm. *starts planning a trip to Canada* :-)

I have never before wanted so much to be 18. I voted in our mock election at school! But I'm now trying to keep myself from checking the update page every two seconds for results. Kill me now.

Can I serioulsy come live on your couch? I'm an experienced babysitter....
