la_rainette: (Yay Christmas rainette!)

(a bit late, I know. But everything i do is A Bit Late these days. Like, saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] indy_go. Happy belated birthday, Meg dear.)

The Children's Mass went well. Froglet was a very fetching, if rather bored, angel. I noted with alarm that most parents of Regular Angels had opted to enrol the little brothers and sisters of said Angels into the Wittle Lambs brigade. Oh dear, I thought. Tadpole is going to throw a fit.

It turned out I had no ground to worry. The wittle lambs gave their shepherds a hard time. One refused to leave his mommy; one sat in the front with all the other lambs-angels-shepherds-Mary-Joseph folks, and shook his head and squinted at his dangling lamb-ears and giggled; one stole the Baby Jesus doll from its crib and ran for it, looked over her shoulder at the worst possible moment and collided with the priest, and called out pathetically when the Baby Jesus was taken from her fingers and returned to its crib ("my baby! MY BABY!). Tadpole was the most well-behaved three-year-old in the Church, I have to say. She busied herself cleaning the pew with my best silk scarf and was perfectly happy.

Needless to say, my scarf didn't enjoy the treatment half as much as Tadpole did. *sighs*

The kids were very happy with their presents, too, and in the Grand Tradition of Kids, they play with the Big Box much more than with the actual toy (well, it makes sense: the Big Box contained a new bike for Tadpole, a REAL BIKE, without a handle for mommy to push her. i.e., she will now have to pedal. She hadn't quite expected that, I could tell from her startled face as she tried out the bike in the living-room). They coloured the box with markers; they used it as a slide (oy, marker traces all over their feet/pajamas); they put it horizontally between the armrest of two big armchairs and called the space thus defined their "club-house", and fought over who would be allowed in; they played Santa, filling it up with toys from their room and bringing it to me or Husband; they played "one-horse-open-sleigh", with one kid in the box singing jingle bells, and the other one pulling the sleigh and whinnying.

We tidied up.

Husband: Oh, look! Instructions! In, let's see... Polish, and Portugese.
rainette: How interesting. What are the instructions for?
Husband *cheerfully* Dunno, I speak neither Polish nor Portugese.

The unidentified instructions in foreign language ended up in the bin, I am afraid. Hopefully we'll figure out the toys without them..

Once we're done packing.

Cos that post? was my weekly pause. Goodness gracious, will it ever end?

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Sounds like the girls had fun at least :D

Did you get any good presents? A well deserved rest maybe? *g*

I know they were right to be more enamoured of the boxes, boxes are fantastic. Ben liked anything that came in a big box, but unfortunately not for the box - we had to share his mini scalextrix(?) thing. Dad and I were very upset, lol.

*huggles* Take care of yourself! :D

*hugs tight* thank you! Presents and rest for us were minimal (uh, I got a house for Christmas?), but hopefully I'll soon be able to make up for it.

Oh yes, the card will arrive to the right house (haven't seen it yet though): all the mail will be redirected to our new place during the next 6 months.

*clings* wah I don't wanna pack anymore!

Oh, wow. Best Christmas pageant EVER. ("OMG SHE STOLE THE BABY JESUS!!!11!")

Also, at Wal-Mart you can buy a huge cardboard box. Yes. Nothing in it, just a big empty box. It comes with a set of cheap markers so the kids can decorate it and make a playhouse out of it.

Happy New Year if we don't hear from you again, and Happy Moving!
