The short good-bye
Jan. 7th, 2005 09:49 amOK, so this is it. We signed the paperwork at the lawyer's yesterday.
Lawyer: We're saving paper these days. Instead of having two copies of the same paper that you both have to sign, we have one copy of two different papers, and you each sign one.
rainette: ?
Husband: ?
rainette and husband: *exchange A Look*
Husband: How does that save paper?
Lawyer *beams* Ahah! You're smart! You figured it out right away!
Husband: ?
Lawyer: It doesn't. Someone Up There thinks it does, but it actually doesn't.
rainette *helpfully* It saves ink, though.
Lawyer and Husband *exchange A Look*
It took all of 15 minutes. Today, the lawyers meet and close the deal. I have a feeling that it's going to take much longer than 15 minutes.
And then, sometime this afternoon, we get the keys.
Tomorrow, we move. Therefore, tonight, the computer will be shut down and taken apart. *deep sigh*
By Monday or Tuesday, unless our old computer doesn't survive the move, I should be back online for good. I expect the unpacking to be a lot easier and faster than the packing, cos we've done a good job of sorting stuff and making sure we finally got rid of what we didn't need anymore. Also, we have no deadline. *evil grin* Procrastination, here I come.
*bows deeply* So good-bye for now, dear friends. See y'all very soon. *HUGS*

Date: 2005-01-07 08:39 am (UTC)In retrospect, shouldn't have borrowed the pickup truck for the move. Too easy for things to fly out of the back.
I know things will go smoother for y'all because you are
smarter than we werebetter organized than us. :)no subject
Date: 2005-01-07 11:44 am (UTC)We have hired professional movers for the day (we pack, they help move), and a very good friend of ours has taken the day off to help (he works at a helpdesk, and he's supposed to work Saturdays), and the girls will stay at a friend's for a day... It's also the first time in what, over 20 years? That I move over a distance of less that 100 miles, so I'm fairly confident. I mean, should we forget anything, we can always go back.
I'll be thinking of you *hugs*
