Froglet: Mommy, I just made up a story. Can I tell you my story?
rainette: sure.
Froglet: Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who lived in a pretty castle. And there also was a dragon. The dragon had a treasure box with a key, and the princess was curious, so she stole the key from the dragon and opened the box.
rainette: o_O
Froglet: and the box was FULL OF DIAMONDS! Then the dragon looked for the key, and couldn't find it, and he saw the Princess with the key...
rainette: Oh dear!
Froglet: but the Princess had a magic invisible sword, so she killed the dragon and lived happily ever after in her castle with the diamonds.
rainette: but the poor dragon is dead.
Froglet: well, he was mean. He wanted to burn the Princess.
rainette: ...
Tadpole: I have a story too! Me too!
rainette: ok
Tadpole: one day, there was a pretty bunny rabbit, and a regular bunny rabbit.
rainette: !
Tadpole: and the pretty bunny rabbit jumped REALLY high, over the rainbow.
rainette: wow!
Tadpole: and then the wolf came and ate him. The end.
rainette *headthunk*

I'm not sure how old Froglet is, but I love that story. It has a beginning, middle, and end, motivation (curiosity), and magic. :D

Also, it sounds as though Tadpole has grasped that physical beauty can be, uh, powerful but dangerous. *nods* Hee!

My kid keeps making fanfic of Pro Wrestling. He's nine. No, I will be not showing him some of the comms--yes, there are slash comms for this.

Less princesses is usually a good plan... :) Thinking of your user icon, are you familiar with the retelling of the story about the princess and the golden ball? You know, the one where she drops her ball in the pond and the frog agrees to fetch it if she'll kiss him, and then of course he turns into a handsome prince, usually. Except this one nice version I read had the princess dining happily on frogs legs and musing that golden balls are ten a penny ::giggle::
