Missed again!
May. 19th, 2005 12:50 pmThis cavity likes my Froglet leik woa and has no intention to get shaken off, it seems. The first time we went to the dentist to take care of it, Froglet refused to open her mouth. When the dentist tried to take her by surprise, she bit him.
So he refused to have anything more to do with her and pointed a bruised finger in the general direction of a paediatric dentist's office - one of those dentist who present you with special jaw-shaped jacks to hold your kid's mouth open, ahahahaha, and ask you to sign here, please, to consent to having your lovely child tied up to a chair and manhandled back to health.
I was not very happy with the whole process, but I'm really not comfortable with Froglet getting a general anaesthetics for a cavity. So I made an appointment, with the sekrit intention to club the dentist on the head at the first wail from my Froglet.
I worried all day yesterday, and so did Froglet.
Froglet: can I bring Winnie the pooh?
rainette: of course you can.
Froglet: what happens if I refuse to open my mouth?
rainette: ....
And then in the middle of the night we were woken up by a whimpering and boiling hot Froglet: it turned out she is Sick and I suspect that she has caught a dose of whatever it was that completely exhausted her best friend's siblings last week. The symptoms are pretty much the same: bellyache and fever, both relieved by pain-killers. Eh.
So we didn't go to the dentist's after all, and I got a new appointment in July, which gives me enough time to check my friend's dentist, who is apparently gentle and very good with kids and doesn't tie them up to their chairs. At this point, I have nothing to lose.
In other news, I think I have been working too hard lately.
rainette *to tadpole*: are you a little girl?
Tadpole: NO. (I don't know why, Tadpole doesn't want to be a little girl anymore)
rainette: are you a Big Sister?
Tadpole: NO.
rainette: are you a baby?
Tadpole: NO. (Oh? Usually she says yes. She likes being a cuddly baby who gets all the attention, even though she finds babies -- other babies -- "ew".)
rainette: are you a mommy?
Tadpole: NO.
Froglet: of course no. NOBODY wants to be a mommy. It's much too much work!
Ahahahaha. Yes. So I will not be taking any work this week-end, I'll just be resting a little and playing with my kids, is what I have decided. And now, I am off to watch a movie (on DVD, we're not leaving the house today) with my pretty Froglet, cos I don't do that nearly often enough these days. I'LL EVEN MAKE POPCORN.
ETA Tadpole: watch a movie? What movie?
Froglet *draws self up importantly* The movie I choose. I get to choose, and that's because I Am Sick.
:D I used to enjoy Being Home Sick, too.

Date: 2005-05-19 11:17 am (UTC)The boring old one had given me some sort of gas, so when he leaned over me, I could see his head upside down, but no body--his head was attached to this canister-style vacuum cleaner, which was hovering in mid-air.
And he couldn't understand why I was freaking out and screaming like a banshee.
And Froglet is RIGHT. Being a mommy is Too Much Work. (For Not Enough Pay, yet.) But we would never, ever give it up.
Have fun snuggling and movie-watching! That's one of my favorite things to do with my girls.
