Corn on the Cob
Jul. 11th, 2005 11:40 amWe decided to show off our newly acquired Northern American cooking skills to our French guests, so we had corn on the cobb the other day (OK, so corn on the cob is not entirely UNknown in France, but it's not all that common either). We were so busy demonstrating how to eat corn on the cob properly that it took us a while to notice that Froglet (who LOVES corn on the cob) wasn't eating. She was hunched over her plate, contemplating her corn with huge, sad eyes.
rainette: What's up, Froglet? Don't you like it?
Frioglet *wails* Yes, I do. But I can't eat it. I haven't got any TEEFF!
Her new front teeth aren't long enough yet, and the longer baby teeth on the sides get in the way. :D How silly of us not to think of that.
Don't worry, my sweet. They will grow, I promise, unless you walk into a wall face first in the next few month, of course, and there is no replacement coming this time, so I strongly suggest you watch where you are going. *sighs*
ETA: Eating green peas, however, has become fun since the top front teeth came out: Froglet keeps her jaws glued together and slides the peas through the hole, and Tadpole is of course INSANELY jealous and wants her teeth out NOW so that she can race her sister. :D The corn on the cob came just in time to show Tadpole that it's OK to have her baby teeth still.

Date: 2005-07-13 01:04 pm (UTC)I remember having one very stubborn tooff that took forever to fall off, but apart from that? Well, I don't remember much of it, frankly. It just happened, at some point or other.
How are your boys doing with teeth? My friend's 11-year-old son has apparently lost only 8 teeth so far. The adult teeth are ready to come out, but the baby teeth aren't coming out! If they don't fall off in the next 2 years, the dentist said he would have to pull them...

Date: 2005-07-13 01:06 pm (UTC)I love corn on the cob, especially when camping cos it means No Dishwashing - though obviously I'll have no such luck this year, cos we have to cut if off for Froglet...
