Pretty Ponies
Jul. 13th, 2005 04:06 pm:D
Tadpole loves "My little Ponies". She owns a small battalion of them. They come in each and every size and colour, and they each have a picture representing their name tattoed on their butt.
Some of them, like Diamond or Rainbow, are pretty easy to figure out. Others take more time, and I still tend to call "Candy" "Lollipop", or blank out on "Sparkles" ("Erm. Atomic Explosion?" "MOM!" "Ok, I don't know, then")
She also got another species of pony altogether for her 2nd birthday: a Strawberry Shortcake pony. It is appropriately pretty, big enough to get promoted as Head Pony and make a suitable mommy to a gaggle of variously coloured Little Ponies, and white with pink spots. But it doesn't have its name tattoed on its butt.
So I asked Tadpole this morning what its name was. She examined the pony's buttocks closely, slightly annoyed not to find the expected clue on either of them. She pondered the problem for a while, and then, suddenly, her little face lit up.
She then showed me the pink spots and happily exclaimed: "Chicken pops!"
:D So Chickenpops is now the pony's new name. Doesn't it just make perfect sense?

Date: 2005-07-13 03:18 pm (UTC)Your screenname just showed up on my buddy list. (I presume it's you, I know no other Rainettes unless that's a term meaning "very little rain" which our lawn signed up for an account under.)
Best I can recall, I've never IM'd you, nor you me, nor ever exchanged email other than through comments.
Yet somehow the beast knows who you are.
Oh well. Maybe this is its way of reminding me to tell you I'm going to be up your way on Saturday to pick up my Canadianly correct recycled-paper edition of the HP book. So if you're anywhere in the vicinity of either Keens Key or the Danforth, those will be the stomping grounds of the day.

Date: 2005-07-13 04:35 pm (UTC)And *sheepish grin* I have no idea what your screenname is, to be honest.
You're going to the Danforth? *blinks* That's where I live, actually (well, very close to it). You wanna come over for a coffee? :D You can reach me by email at circe1@sympatico.ca

Date: 2005-07-15 09:01 pm (UTC)Your little ones are so cute. I love the small child logic behind Tadpole's naming.
I'm a nanny for a five year old girl (And her seven year old brother, but he doesn't care for ponies quite so much.). In case you were dying to know, the resident expert around here has informed me that Strawberry Shortcake's pony is "Honey Pie Pony".
I share your confusion with the My Little Ponies, though. We play My Little Pony Memory, and there are just so many! And, really, who names a pony "Sweet Summertime"?

Date: 2005-07-17 07:26 am (UTC)Thank you very much for the piece of information, I had no idea! :) I didn;t know there was a pony names "Sweet Summertime", either, but HONESTLY. *rolls eyes* What does the tattoo look like?
