Mar. 13th, 2008 01:53 pmrainette: Hello, LJ.
rainette's LJ: Hi! What have you been up to?
rainette: I've been making single-legged frogs and pretending that Celine Dion doesn't exist.
rainette's LJ: ...
How does one make single-legged frogs, you ask? Well, that is achieved by using a pretty but intricate frog-shaped cookie-cutter to make petits fours au beurre. Aha! I knew there was a reason why I always used very small, simple and plain cookie cutters when I make petits fours au beurre! Not that it matters much, they're still yummy as can be (yes they are :D. Well, wait til you try them ;) ) and my own little froglets will have great pleasure exercising their canibalistic tendencies on all frog legs that accidentally fell off.
They've never even had REAL frog legs, btw. (Neither have I. Sorry. I know people who have, though :D)
Ah well, I used to make headless teddybears (because I also have a teddybear-shaped cookie cutter). The legless frogs are comparatively a lot less disturbing.
As for Celine Dion. Oh, Celine...
So Froglet has an electric keyboard that she doesn't really know how to use, and while she was playing with it she accidentally found My Heart Will Go On. *headdesks*
So I told her about the song. And then she asked about Celine Dion, and so I looked for the video on youtube. And we watched the video, and I told her a bit about it, and since we'd been to the Titanic Artifacts exhibit at the Science Center, she asked to see the movie. So I rented the movie (yes, I know: entirely my fault) because we all had appointments with the optometrist, and my pupils dilate so well that I can't read for hours after the exam. So I thought, what the hell? LET'S WATCH TITANIC WITH THE GIRLS.
Worst.
Mistake.
Ever.
Tadpole: Is this the boat that sinks?
rainette: No, Tadpole. That's the research boat.
Tadpole: Is THIS the boat that sinks?
rainette: No, Tapole. Not yet.
Tadpole: IT'S SINKING!
rainette: Tadpole. It's a submarine. It's not sinking, it's going under water.
Tadpole: ...
rainette: ...
Tadpole: Is THAT the boat that sinks?
rainette: Yup. That's the one!
Tadpole: does it sink now?
rainette: No, not right now.
Tadpole: How long before it sinks?
rainette *very small voice* about two hours, I think?
Tadpole *cheerfully* Okay.
rainette: ...
Tadpole: ...
Tadpole: how long before it sinks now?
rainette *facepalms*
Repeat the above approximately 137 times.
Two hours later:
rainette: OKAY. HERE WE GO, NOW THE BOAT IS GOING TO SINK! WATCH, TADPOLE!
Tadpole: This is scary. I am going upstairs, call me when it's finished.
rainette: o_O
And then there was Celine. And Celine. And Celine again. And Celine some more.
And then the girls went to daycare.
Froglet: GUESS WHAT?
rainette: what?
Froglet *excitedly* they asked me if I knew how to sing My Heart Will Go On, and I got to sing IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE DAYCARE!!!
rainette: ...
We'll never hear the end of Celine Dion.
