Please DO NOT cross-post to Facebook or twitter, especially comments to locked posts. Well, I don't have a twitter account, but ... I do have a facebook and I have RL people on there. I like to think that this little corner of the onlineverse is mine to be who I want in and to keep the company I choose. I can guarantee that I will not crosspost anything to FaceBook or Twitter, especially not any comment I might post in your journal.
Thank you.
I am considering disabling LJ comments altogether when I post during the week from work (which I have to do from DreamWidth since my work filter bans LJ). I think it'll be safer.
Can I interest you in DreamWidth in the meanwhile? DW is a fantastic community, a warm community and a safe place that really respects its users. Also, whatever you post on DW can be cross-posted AND CROSS-EDITED to LJ, which is super-cool (especially when you have no access to LJ from work, which is my case). If you're in need of a code for DreamWidth, there is a codefest currently going on at copperbadge's journal with tons of them to grab, and should you still need a code afterwards, please send me a word, I have several to give away. :)

Date: 2010-09-01 09:49 pm (UTC)C & p'd from erastes (haven't tried it myself):
As to the FB/Twitter button, that’s easily removed by downloading Greasemonkey and using this plug in. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/85105 It works immediately and lo and behold you can simply press enter again without having to skip.
Tell me if it works, 'kay?

Date: 2010-09-01 10:47 pm (UTC)Myself, I don't have the facebook/twitter linking enabled, so they're greyed out for me. No accidental cross-posting by me!

Date: 2010-09-02 09:57 pm (UTC)Well, I am hoping that people will be reasonable and will roll their eyes at LJ for even offering the option. If needed, I'll just move permanently to DW, but I don't think it'll come to that. I think that considering the uproar, we'll get an "official" way to opt out.... eventually.

Date: 2010-09-01 10:16 pm (UTC)In fact I can't really imagine any people that I personally know doing it. Not sure why LJ thought it was a good idea.

Date: 2010-09-02 01:30 am (UTC)Also, you need to run the fix on your own journal. A friend provided it earlier and it works once you insert it in your journal style:
