Time flies
Aug. 18th, 2016 06:45 pmFroglet is, indeed, seventeen now. When I first started writing on livejournal, she still had all her baby teeth. And now her wisdom teeth are growing in and she is learning how to drive a car.
Time flies,
This, by the way, is one of the reasons why I am so nervous about people running in the streets at 4 am in the morning and potentially getting hit by a car - I spend a lot of time sitting next to a seventeen-year-old and yelling things like “Very close. You’re VERY CLOSE. THAT’S TOO CLOSE DAMMIT!* and holding onto the chicken stick for dear life.
Last time she backed out of a parking space, about a week ago, I got a really urgent text message from a friend and since she was doing about .2 miles an hour and it WAS an emergency, I left her to her own devices for a second to reply (Yeah, I won’t do THAT again). When I looked up she was so close to the car next to us that I panicked.
Me: FROGLET STOP!
Her: what?
Me: you’re way too close to that car, honey
Her: OMG! OMG! DID I TOUCH IT?
Me, *very calmly* I don’t think so. Not yet. But you have to do exactly as I say *guides Froglet out of the parking space*
Her: are you sure the car is okay?
Me: Froglet. We would have felt it if we had touched it. Honestly.
Her: Okay… *parks car in driveway* *get out* OH SHIT LOOK MUM! I TOLD YOU I HIT THE CAR! LOOK! *point at white trace on car*
Me: oh shit.
She *touches trace on car with her finger, freezes in place* *smiles sadly and takes her best Dumbledore voice* Alas! Pigeon poop!
