I saw the new Bourne installment on Thursday evening thanks to Volkswagen Canada. It was the one and only preview in all of North America, they said, and therefore they confiscated all cellphones prior to showing the movie. How very apt for a spy movie. :D

The tickets were free to people who own a VW car, which actually makes them very expensive free tickets. But hey, I am not complaining. I like our car :D.


To anyone who has ever been a pet owner: OK, that scene were Aaron makes the wolf swallow his tracker is ridiculous, isn't it? I mean - anyone who's ever tried to make a 10-pound CAT swallow a bloody PILL knows that this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Rawr.


My favourite part in the entire evening was the VW commercials before the movies (which is saying something about the movie, alas). So I looked them up on youtube and thought I would share those with all the Star Wars fans out there. :D

The Bark Side

It took a Froglet and several viewing to recognize C3PO and Princess Leia. We're just Not That Fast ;)


And this one wasn't shown Thursday night, but I think it's one of the cutest commercials I have ever seen.

Oh, these commercials are wonderful! We just bought a Passat (still at the stage where my husband keeps buying little presents for it and sits in it just to turn on the engine and listen to it purr -- it's a diesel, so it does make a nice sound), and my nine-year-old is a huge Star Wars fan -- he was Darth Vader for a couple of Halloweens and dressed up in the costume just for fun, too -- so I immediately called over the kids and showed them these commercials. They had a lot of fun spotting the characters in the first one and thought the second one was adorable (as did I; I actually teared up at that one XP)

The dogs were pretty cute... loved the greyhound AT-AT at the end. :-) The kid-Darth-Vader one is one of Frazer's all-time favourite ads.

The greyhound stepped out and THE WHOLE THEATER CRACKED UP and then the dog turned AND LOOKED STRAIGHT AT US with his "what's so funny?" face and we all cracked up again. :D
