*sighs*

Shortly before Christmas, because clearly she must have read my mind and seen how much I needed to know this, a friend of mine linked to the Raindrops store in Toronto and its wonderful "Merde il pleut" umbrellas. NEEDLESS TO SAY I bought "Merde il pleut" umbrellas as a Christmas present to the family, in assorted colours: black for Husband, purple for Froglet and orange for Tadpole.

I didn't buy one for myself because 1) I am a dignified teacher at a French-speaking school and therefore I try not to say merde in public too often and 2) I already own a lovely, entirely automatic folding umbrella, curtesy of Husband, which I love because it makes me giggle every time it snaps shut, usually on my fingers (so much for dignified).

Also, I don't really use umbrellas - usually I prefer raincoats with a hood or something of the kind. This morning, for instance, I was caught in a snow storm and frankly - I absolutely do not need a "Merde il pleut" umbrella right now in Toronto.

What I REALLY need is a "Crotte il neige" parka. Why hasn't anyone thought of marketing those yet?

I had one of those for years, but I simply found it impractical because it's soooo biiiiiig! I do use umbrellas, but I prefer tiny ones that I can slip into a bag and carry around with me.

I like the "Merde il pleut" bumbershoots and the "Crotte il neige" coats. Could have used both today. And as the low front moves off and we get plunged into a deep freeze, a pair of skates would come in handy as well.
