la_rainette | Watch where you're going, lady!

Tadpole and rainette are walking in the rain. Tadpole looks adorable as always in her very trendy black and white raincoat with flowers. Rainette looks much less fetching, in an ueberyellow very cheap rain-not-quite-coat-but-not-poncho-either bought in a hurry on a rainy day while we were camping (eh).

Tadpole *is tired with walking and holds up arms to be carried*
rainette: You sure? Oh, OK then.
Tadpole *gratefully snuggles against rainette*
rainette *walks fast cos hey, rain is wet, have you noticed?*
Tadpole *suddenly kisses rainette on the nose*
rainette *can't see, tries to brake but is carried my momentum straight into long-haired innocent bystander*
long-haired bystander *staggers under the onslaught*
rainette: Oh, sorry Ma'am!
long-haired stranger *amused, very deep voice*: not quite
rainette: sorry sir

We got wet. I twisted my ankle. Tadpole stomped her tiny foot and shrieked. I bought her a pop cos she was thirsty. We waited a long time for the subway train. And then we finally got on.

I then I thought, wow, my day couldn't get any worse.

Now, one should never think that. Never. Days have very creative ways to prove you wrong, you know. They do.

Tadpole *twitters alarmingly*
rainette: pardon?
helpful gentleman: I think she is trying to tell you that the rain is dripping from your rainscoat into your purse.

Rain?

Ahahahaha. Pop. Pop? ARGH! OVERTURNED BOTTLE OF POP EMPTYING ITSELF IN MY PURSE! HELP!

rainette *tries to salvage book from purse*
Book *drips sadly*
Helpful gentleman *hands over a pile of second-cup napkins*: Here, that might help.
rainette *tries to dry contents of purse*: Thank you very much!
Tadpole *starts nosebleed* meeep!
rainette *takes care of wet purse and bleeding nose and misses train stop*

I believe it is only the second book I thus maim. The first one was Family Matters, which I accidentally dropped in the toilet (ahem). I am still Deeply Traumatized by the whole thing, and so is my beloved leather purse. It is by no means a new purse, not even a recent purse, but I really love it for sentimental reasons and its current state of stickiness and dampness and general yuckness makes me very very sad. *sighs*
